Windrush 75 'The Grip' Exhibition
This community-led exhibition, centered around ‘the grip’ – a symbolic traveller’s suitcase, commemorates Windrush 75 and Black History Month. Curated by Bevali Mckenzie, it showcases an array of photographs by Paul Mckenzie, written works, and a compelling short film contributed by local members of the Windrush Generation and their associates.
Hosted in the Palace’s Creativity Pavilion the exhibition, also on display at Bruce Castle Museum, offers a captivating journey through time, featuring narratives of resilience and triumph. The event will feature live performances by EyeAm SAKRED SOUL, an emerging UK poet and Neo Soul singer, the mesmerizing ancestral drumming of MASOL, and DJ 2TRAXX, who will be spinning tunes from the Windrush era. Additionally, there will be heartfelt Spoken Word performances by residents.
The event is free to attend, no booking required.
