Back to Black: Alexandra Palace’s Black History Tour – Unearthing the largely unknown stories of the black men and women that lived, worked and performed at Alexandra Palace, on a tour that explores black culture from Victorian Britain onwards.

Viewed from the prism of the Victorian looking glass, the Palace becomes a vehicle from which to explore a range of 20th century attitudes towards black culture, including: Victorian objectification of Nubians; 80s concepts of Beauty with the Afro Hair & Beauty show; 70s radicalisation of the Rock Against Racism movement, and the first ever TV broadcast featuring the comic duo Buck and Bubbles on the opening night of television in 1936.
