This is Halloween, this is Halloween…
And to celebrate, we’re sharing this (very) non-exhaustive list of spooky stuff that happens at Ally Pally (please still come visit):
- Women are said to haunt the BBC corridor. When one of us works late in the office, they like to play with the internet, laptops, screens and phones. Pictures taken in the corridor disappear, WiFi goes out there and there only, screens and laptops turn off by themselves, staff feeling cold drafts and a ghostly presence…
- When we first opened the Theatre, the stage left downstage light would sometimes be swinging from side to side while the others stayed perfectly still. We made friends with the ghost and the swinging lessened over time.
- In the South Corridor, there have been reports of radio noise (FM, not walkies) before any infrastructure or power was installed in that area.
- We sometimes have a shifting white human-shaped blurry image on the CCTV cameras outside the ladies’ loos (but we won’t tell you which ones ).
- Staff members have smelled a strong smell of cigarettes on the West side of the building, with no smokers around.
