Friday Night Is Music Night – Days of Dance
Everybody dance now! From the Charleston to the waltz, bossa nova to ballet, Craig Revel Horwood joins Katie Derham to host a Friday Night is Music Night with a toe-tapping difference.
It don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that swing – and, to celebrate BBC Radio 3’s Day of Dance, the BBC Concert Orchestra is tripping the light fantastic back to London’s fabulous Alexandra Palace Theatre for a whole evening of high-kicking, all-singing and (naturally) all-dancing melodies.
True, great tunes come as standard on Friday Night is Music Night. But today they come with an extra spring in their step. Reunited after their appearance on Strictly Come Dancing, presenters Craig Revel Horwood and Katie Derham introduce showstoppers and toe-tappers from Gershwin, Leroy Anderson and Fred ‘n’ Ginger. They’ll be putting on their ballet shoes with Prokofiev’s Cinderella, getting sultry with Marquez’s Danzon No.2 and flying down to Rio to unleash the spirit of the Bossa Nova. They’ll also be joined by young star Madeleine Morgan – named Stephen Sondheim Society student performer of the year – and conductor Daniel Parkinson.
I got rhythm? You’d better believe it – so let’s face the music, and dance!
