Sunset Boulevard

13 Jun 2021

FINALLY- for two concert performances only, ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER’S Tony Award-winning masterpiece SUNSET BOULEVARD comes to Alexandra Palace Theatre.

The concert will play a 3PM & 7PM performance to a socially distanced audience of 300 at each concert. The musical is based on BILLY WILDER’S legendary film with book and lyrics by DON BLACK & CHRISTOPHER HAMPTON. These special socially-distanced concert performances star MAZZ MURRAY as Norma Desmond and RAMIN KARIMLOO as Joe Gillis. The cast also features ZIZI STRALLEN (Betty Schaefer), SHARIF AFIFI (Artie Green), CHRISTOPHER HOWELL (Manfred/Sheldrake) & DAVID SHAWPARKER (Cecil B. DeMille). Completing the company are JACK HARRISON-COOPER, JORDAN LEE DAVIES, MOMAR DIAGNE, CHLOE HART, AIMEE HODNETT, SEJAL KESHWALA, ANELISA LAMOLA, EVIE ROSE LANE, CAMERON SHARP & BLEU WOODWARD.

In her mansion on Sunset Boulevard, faded, silent-screen goddess, Norma Desmond, lives in a fantasy world. Impoverished screen writer, Joe Gillis, on the run from debt collectors, stumbles into her reclusive world. Persuaded to work on a script that she believes will put her back in front of the cameras, he is seduced by her life-style. Joe becomes entrapped in a claustrophobic world until his love for another woman leads him to break free with dramatic consequences.

The concerts will feature a 28- piece socially-distanced orchestra playing DAVID CULLEN & ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER’S definitive orchestrations. SUNSET BOULEVARD is directed by JORDAN MURPHY, conducted by ALEX PARKER, with choreography by JOANNA GOODWIN. It will feature a sound design by PAUL SMITH, lighting design by JACK WEIR, wig design by SAM COX and keyboard programming by STUART ANDREWS.

Masks will need to be worn at all times in the venue.

SUNSET BOULEVARD is presented by kind permission of the The Really Useful Group limited.

This event was originally scheduled to take place on 18 April 2021. Original tickets remain valid for the same performance time on the new date. Please contact your ticketing provider if you have any queries.
